Little Spirit is a lonely little boy who seems to have become separated from his family. We meet him on a dark night and the book immediately evokes a feeling of mystery and tension. He moves from place to place, trying to find somewhere safe and warm to stay, and food to eat, and most importantly to him, without being discovered! He ends up staying in a church and making a friend, a little girl called Eliza. Together, they spot an advert for "The Lost Sun", a treasure that is worth a lot of money. So Little Spirit goes in search of it in the church, but he isn't the only one! A mysterious man he calls " the Earth Lord" is also looking for it. Who will find it? Will Little Spirit be reunited with his family? The writing is strong, creating a good sense of atmosphere and character. The central message seems to be about kindness to all.
