This is a wonderful children’s story with characters with delightful names. A hard-working dog detective called Detective Buster Cuffs lives in Pawchester and is dedicated to solving crimes. One day as he is walking through the park,  he meets the local puppies who are searching in the bushes because they can’t find their treats. They ask him to help them. Buster sets about trying to solve this baffling mystery. He searches for paw prints and clues. He has 2 suspects in mind, Trouble Whisker the cat and Nutty Rascal the squirrel, but the treats are nowhere to be found. He even tries looking for clues underwater. Who is the guilty party and will the hungry puppies get their treats back? Each page has 3 or 4 lines of text and a beautiful illustration. The personalities of the lovable animal characters are perfectly depicted in the detailed, colourful images. There are bits of humour in the book as well as valuable lessons for children to learn on persevering, forgiveness, redeeming yourself, sharing, and including everyone. The author also shares details about a competition consisting of 3 puzzles. Young readers/listeners will enjoy solving them. Highly recommended for children aged about 2 to 5 or 6 years old.
