The Lorax is an hilarious story with typical zany humour and silly rhymes and repetition, that packs a punch with its ecological message without feeling heavy-handed or worthy. It is a powerful message that rings true today which both adults and children would do well to heed. As Dr. Seuss once said, do not to fool with Mother Nature.

The Lorax Synopsis
Mister! He said with a sawdusty sneeze, I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees. The now remorseful Once-ler, the faceless, bodiless narrator, tells the story himself. Long ago this enterprising villain chances upon a place filled with wondrous Truffula Trees, Swomee-Swans, Brown Bar-ba- loots, and Humming-Fishes.
Bewitched by the beauty of the Truffula Tree tufts, he greedily chops them down to produce and mass-market Thneeds. ("It's a shirt. It's a sock. It's a glove. It's a hat.") As the trees swiftly disappear and the denizens leave for greener pastures, the fuzzy yellow Lorax repeatedly warns the Once-ler, but his words of wisdom are for nothing.
Finally, the Lorax extricates himself from the scorched earth leaving only a rock engraved "UNLESS." But as you might expect from Seuss, all hope is not lost for the Once-ler has saved a single Truffula Tree seed!

Brilliant, playful, and always respectful of children, Dr. Seuss charmed his way into the consciousness of four generations of youngsters and parents. In the process, he helped millions of children learn to read.
Theodor Seuss Geisel – better known to millions of his fans as Dr. Seuss – was born the son of a brewer and park superintendent in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1904. After studying at Dartmouth College, in New Hampshire, and later at Oxford University in England (where he met his first wife Helen Palmer), he became a magazine humorist and cartoonist and an advertising man. He soon turned his many talents to writing children`s books and his first book And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street was published in 1937.
His greatest claim to fame was the one and only The Cat in the Hat, published in 1957, the first of a hugely successful range of early learning books collectively known as Beginner Books. In all Dr. Seuss wrote more than 40 children’s books during a career that spanned over 50 years, picking up numerous awards, including two Emmy awards for television and a Pulitzer Prize Special Citation along the way.
