Longlisted for the 2017 Klaus Flugge Prize | One of our Books of the Year 2016 | July 2016 Debut Picture Book of the Month Fiona Woodcock has used delicate pencil and screen print illustrations to create a beautiful and original picture book that at times feels dreamy, at other times zings with youthful energy, and which at all times is perfectly in tune with children and their outlook on the world. Heidi is extremely good at hiding, chameleon-good in fact, and Woodcock has fun exploring this idea, posing her against a variety of backgrounds where she blends in completely. But games aren’t much fun if you always win, and Heidi decides she’ll have more fun playing something else with her friends. Woodcock is a very talented and exciting new illustrator and this will enchant children and adults alike. ~ Andrea Reece
An atmospheric, enchanting story, skillfully drawn by exciting new talent, Fiona Woodcock about a little girl with an amazing gift for concealing herself. Can YOU find Heidi?
From an early age Fiona Woodcock knew that she wanted to earn her living drawing. Since graduating from Glasgow School of Art she has been working freelance in London on animated films, commercials, animation artwork for West End shows and illustration work. All the projects she works on have a paper based handmade origin. She likes to work with a combination of pencil, paint, charcoal, children's blow pens, cutting stencils and experimenting with print techniques whilst dreaming up new characters and stories.
