Across the world nearly 50 million people are living with dementia.

The word ‘dementia’ describes a set of symptoms that may include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language. A person with dementia may also experience changes in their mood or behaviour.  These changes are often small to start with, but for someone with dementia they have become severe enough to affect daily life.

World Alzheimer's Day is a global opportunity to raise awareness around, educate, encourage support of and demystify dementia.

To help raise awareness and highlight issues faced by people affected by dementia, we have created a collection of books for children that feature characters with dementia. It is an opportunity for people and organisations to demonstrate how we can overcome these issues and help people live well with dementia.

For books about the relationships between child & grandparent, take a look at our book collection Celebrate Grandparents Day with 40 great books featuring the older generation.

World Alzheimer's Day is on 21 September - a global opportunity to raise awareness around, educate, encourage support of and demystify dementia.
