Where Sleeping Girls Lie

A great book, a story of mystery, thrill and drama

This was a really good book, the setting was great and an individual take on a relatively generic setting and the plot was also really exciting. It reminded me of other books I loved like Truly Devious (by Maureen Johnson) and I can't wait to re-read it and pick up more about the characters. The plot was engaging and I read the whole book in a day and really enjoyed it, the topics were mature but the book was really good and the storyline was really well planned and entertaining.

Loved this book, totally sucked me in from the minute I started and is definitely going on my shelf to be read multiple times in the future.

This book does have a trigger warning at the beginning, just to make you all aware and there are definitely bits that triggered me, BUT....
This is an awesome story. I love all the main characters. I feel like the author really gets my generation. The kids in the school are a real mixed bunch and the friendship groups are so like my own school.
Ok, so it's set in a stupidly rich private boarding school, but they all seem to have the same issues.
I really identified with the main character, she is strong and sassy and doesn't just fall in with the crowd, she likes to make her own decisions.
This book was a kind of mixture of high school romance, murder mystery and boarding school antics.
I won't go into the story, because you can read that anywhere, but I can tell you that this is one of the best books I've read in a long time and I will be adding this author to my favourites list.
Definitely pick this book up and give it a go.

Where Sleeping Girls Lie is a haunting yet compelling novel that reaches out to every thriller reader. Written by the bestselling author of the Ace of Spades, the book entails a plot filled with rivalry, revenge and mystery.

Where Sleeping Girls Lie is a compelling and addicting thriller written expertly by the author of the bestselling novel, Ace of Spades. The book is a spectacular follow-up full of fascinating spirals of plot twists and events that held me mesmerized for days. The mystical concept of suspense was extremely captivating for a reader. The hidden meaning behind the story was complex and was written for young girls reaching out with the message that healing from deep wounds and struggles is not impossible! Sade Hussein as a protagonist enrols in the all-known prestigious Alfred Nobel Academy home to many aspiring young students. Hussein is carrying with her the whole package of troubles, grief and misery as she steps into the fancy brick walls, polished peaks, and exclusive architecture. But all secrets, lies and plotted revenge break loose on the first night when Sade Hussein’s roommate disappears leaving a trail of panic and mystery behind her. Gossip spreads like fire through the halls of ANA where haunting secrets align the hollowed corridors.

A voice echoes through her head at every chapter, “You should have never come…” Sade Hussein starts her journey through the reputable academy with rivalry, lies, and hidden lives at every lurking corner. The novel is extremely engaging for each and every reader. If you are interested in compulsive and flawless mysteries, then this novel by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé is the one for you!

A brilliant book if you’re interested in strong characters and like trying to solve mysteries, with an intriguing plot that twists and turns.

I disappeared all day after opening Where Sleeping Girls Lie at the start of the holidays. It’s an exciting, gripping book of disappearance and murder at a boarding school that looks great on the surface but really, really isn’t. Adults don’t really get a mention; the book is about strong teenagers and an intriguing plot that constantly twists and turns. The author uses direct language to build realistic and relatable characters. I quickly entered their world and begun to like some and despise others.
The descriptions helped me to understand their personalities, motivations and how they were feeling. The plot builds tension through the book, keeping me engaged and guessing through the confusion like the characters themselves. I felt I was in there with them, trying to work things out. There was no way I could have managed this until the author started to weave everything together in the final chapters.
The character-based nature of the book means that there isn’t much description of places and the wider world, but that worked very well for me. I would have loved more backstory to the characters because they are so interesting, even though this doesn’t affect the story. I suppose this is one of the consequences of the author creating such great characters!
This is a brilliant book if you’re interested in strong characters and like trying to solve mysteries, even if the author wants to keep you guessing….
