Peter's Baking Party

Excellent baking book for children and beginners. We can't wait to use it to bake more!

Milo: This book was so useful for cooking and baking. Each of the recipes had ratings to say if it was hard to make or not and that is really good because it helps you to know which things you can make. It was easy to read and understand.

Aidan: I really enjoyed this book. I love watching Bake Off and this book explained how to do lots of techniques like kneading, icing and melting. Peter sounds really friendly and his language encourages you to want to bake and not be worried if you are just learning. The recipes were all really different and interesting and appealing. The pictures looked really nice and it's good to compare and see what the end bake will look like. I liked that there were different categories too. I found the instructions easy to follow and understand. I can't wait to bake more!

Sarah (mam): my sons love Bake-Off so I've bought quite a few different recipe books for them to follow and try. This is by far the best one I've seen for aspiring young bakers. There's a lovely section at the start explaining terminology and processes which is easy to understand and very helpful. Each recipe is given a rating out of 5 to explain the difficulty level. The language used is clear and concise. We've made four bakes so far and they have all gone well, which is testament to the book rather than our baking skills! We can't wait to bake more!

Don’t walk, run to get a copy of this so you can start baking too!

I think all kids should have a copy of Peter’s Baking Party cookbook. It has great recipes for delicious treats, there are so many things to make of all different types that there will certainly be something you like in there!

The recipes are clear and easy to follow, and each recipe comes with a rating, so you know how tricky the recipe is. I love that they use a donut rating for this – it is really clever and fun. Depending on what you make you might need quite a few ingredients, and an adult to help with certain parts, but all of the recipes are designed for kids, there are even some you don’t need to bake in the oven.

No matter what you pick to make, I’m sure it will taste great. I made the Chocolate Crinkle Cookies to take to a sleepover and they were AMAZING – the best cookies I have ever eaten, and they were also really fun to make.

I can’t wait to make more recipes from the cookbook. Don’t walk, run to get a copy of this so you can start baking too!

Amazing, fun, colourful and easy to read recipes. There are also ideas on how recipes can be adapted.

This is an amazing baking book with colourful pictures of cakes inside it. I made the lemon and blueberry cake first with my mum. It was very yummy. I read the ingredients by myself and chose the recipe. I have also made the Secret Sauce Chocolate pudding, which was yummy too. I think all children would like making the cakes in the book because they look tasty. It is not too hard to read and the writing in the book is big too. I like the book because there are so many recipes in it and you can change some of the ingredients in the recipes too if you don't like them or are allergic to them. Some of the recipes like the garlic swirls recipe are a bit hard to make but I don't mind that because this feels like a precious book that I can use when I'm a bit older too.

My favourite cookbook I like how Peter makes the recipes easy for me to follow with little help from my mum.

I really liked peters baking party, the recipes are so much fun I can make yummy treats for my family. On my mum's birthday I made the piñata cake filled with her favourite sweets. I like how I can follow the recipes by myself with only a little help making me feel like a big girl.

The book is beautifully laid out with lots of inspiring photos to whet the appetite! (Seth's mum) I like all of the cakes in the book and I really want to make some of them. I like the pictures and the instructions are easy to follow. (Seth, 7)

The book is beautifully laid out with lots of inspiring photos to whet the appetite! I love that all the recipes have a 'make it gluten free' option, and most of them also have suggestions as to how you can make the bake your own with different customisations. There is a very useful introduction which explains many of the ingredients and the techniques used throughout the book. The technique explanations feature lots of clear and helpful photographs. All of the bakes have a 'challenge rating' to show you at a glance how easy (or not!) the bake will be. I think 7 is probably too young to manage some of the bakes, but would definitely recommend this for the 9+ market. (Seth's mum)
