Marvin has a special secret: he just needs to don his super-suit and he becomes superhero Marv. Being a super-hero doesn’t solve every problem though, and Marvin can’t help being jealous when his classmate Eva wins a competition to design their school’s new garden, even going as far as to accuse her of copying his ideas.
When supervillain Violet Vine arrives and starts work turning their garden into a carnivorous jungle, it’s time for Marv to take control. The experience helps him understand that he’d been acting like a bad loser, and that working with Eva and the others is lots more fun than sulking.
Once again this super-hero story is super-fun and super-readable. Illustrator Paula Bowles has particular fun drawing enormous Venus Flytraps!

In this story, Marvin and his school friends are tending to the school garden when supervillain Violet Vine appears and uses her powers to make the plants grow out of control. Before long, the garden and school are covered in snaking vines, and kid-eating Venus flytraps! It's time for Marvin to swap his gardening gloves for his superhero suit and become MARV-unstoppable, invincible, and totally MARVellous! Only then can Marv get the garden, and Violet Vine, under control.
Alex is a London native and author of fantastical, action-packed stories for children and teenagers of all ages. He has been both reading and writing since he was a teenager. He was a winner of Spread the Word's 2019 London Writers Awards for YA/children's. When he's not writing, he's baking apple crumbles or playing video games.
